Warm Hearts Make Warm Homes

“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.” ~ William James

Although many of us are experiencing a snowy winter in our homeland, we are experiencing it with warm coats, boots, socks, hats, interior heat, & hot chocolate.
But right now, in this moment, there are young children and elderly grandparents of poor ethnic minority villages in the remote mountains of Northern Viet Nam that are experiencing sub-freezing conditions (-2°c) with no shoes, not even socks. Many have only a sweater or light jacket, some have none at all. Families are shivering inside their humble, drafty, thatched homes, and the weak grandparents and the ill are especially at risk of death I the cold night by hypothermia.

The H’mong, Dao and Xa Pho people live in the higher altitudes in the northern latitudes, and their homes are hardly able to retain any heat. Fuel is too scarce for the sudden cold, and they are burning plastic and any flammable trash they can find on the cooking fire on the floor of their home to keep warm, at the cost of inhaling severely toxic fumes, including infants & elderly. I love these people, and I’ve come to Sapa to help. I am going to deliver blankets, coats, warm socks & knit hats to the surrounding villages, especially the poorest ones. But when I arrived, it became immediately clear that they need more help than I alone can offer. Please join me! So I invite you humbly, if you are able, to please participate in this one-time cause to help me help them.
