Close to ten years after Réhahn began his Precious Heritage photography project, which led him to open the Precious Heritage Museum in 2017, he has realized his ambitious goal of meeting all 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam.

The final tribe to complete the project was the Chut, located in the Quang Binh province. The location in the center of Vietnam is highly restricted, so it took years to access this group. The Chut originally lived in a cave near the border of Laos. They were moved in 1959 to be closer to Vietnamese villages.

Over the course of this project, Réhahn has taken thousands of portraits of the ethnic groups, and added hundreds of artifacts and traditional costumes to the Precious Heritage Museum in Hoi An. Once the display for the Chut has been completed, each and every documented tribe, in addition to numerous subgroups, will be represented. The hope is to maintain a location where information about the diverse ethnic groups of Vietnam can be accessed by all, in order to increase knowledge, respect and understanding.

The Precious Heritage Museum is free to the public.
