Ladakh, an area in the Kashmir region of India, is tucked like a green jewel between the towering Himalayas and the border of Tibet. Réhahn’s photographs reveal the faces of the Ladakhi people who inhabit this mystical place, often described as a modern-day Shangri-La.

Perhaps because of the remote nature of their homes, the Ladakhi people have been able to maintain a strong cultural identity separate from the rest of India. However, an influx of tourism is now influencing the way of life of these tranquil primarily Buddhist people.
