Fishing in Vietnam

Fishing is one of Vietnam’s most important industries. It can range from major shrimping boats lining the coastlines to small basket boats bobbing through the seas carrying a single fisherman and his handmade net. These artisanal fishermen and their heritage skills are the focus of this photographic portfolio.

Day after day they cast off from the shore. The beauty of their hand-mended nets, tinted in jewel-toned emeralds, sapphires, and rubies, color the waters and the skies as they toss out them out in hopes of a good catch.
